Carlo Andrea Bordini

President since 2019

Carlo A. Bordini, was born in Reggio Calabria (Italy) on 27th August 1973. Carlo starts playing draughts at 13, and in 1987 becomes a Italian Champion Junior of Italian draughts, specialty of which he is master. At the age of 18 he began to be a Trainers of draughts, and his boys has obtained several successes at the Italian Championships and at the Student Games. National Referee, in 2001 he became member of the FID national Board. From 2002 to 2016 he was elected again member of FID National Board, assuming the charge of FID vice-president. Since 2015 he is vice president of the WCDF (the World Confederation of Checkers/Draughts, English specialty) and in 2016 he is elected President of the FID (Italian Draughts Federation). In 2016, he was awarded of the Golden Star for Sporting Merits by the Italian National Olympic Committee.

Married, engineer, from 2002 he moved to Milan for work and from December 2008 he moved for work to Trieste.

On 3rd  August 2019, in Warsaw, he was elected President of the EDC.

On 5th August 2023, in Tallinn, he was re-elected President of the EDC.

Janek Mäggi

Janek is the founder of the communication agency Powerhouse, which topped Äripäev’s list of public relations companies in 2021. He graduated from the School of Law at the University of Tartu in 1999. His career includes working for the Äripäev business daily (1994–1997), serving as vice-president of SEB bank (1997–2000), directing the Internet gateway for the Eurovision Song Contest for ETV (2001–2002), and hosting the finance program Miljon senti (“One Million Cents”) in 2008. Since 2005, he has been the chairman of the supervisory board of the Tallinn Children’s Hospital Foundation.

In 2014, Janek co-founded the “Gift of Life” Cancer Treatment Foundation with Hille and Toivo Tänavsuu. In 2018, alongside Indrek Laul, Väino Kaldoja, and Urmas Viilma, he founded the Church Fund (Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church Support Fund), where he serves as director. He served as president of the European Draughts Federation (1999–2015), European Draughts Confederation (2007–2017), and World Draughts Federation (2017–2021). From 2015 to 2019, he was the deputy chairman of the board of curators of the Estonian Academy of Arts.

From May 2, 2018, to April 29, 2019, Janek was a member of the Government of the Republic of Estonia, serving as the Minister of Public Administration. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing regional development, public sector reforms, and local government affairs. He focused on improving public services, advancing digital governance, and enhancing administrative efficiency within the government.
