To all federations,
Due to the ongoing issues with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has not been any possibility to organize the European Championship 2020. Since the FMJD has announced that the World Championship Draughts has been rescheduled to the end of June 2021, the EDC has decided to schedule an European Qualification Tournament (EQT) in the first half of May.
Hence we are calling all interested federations and organizers to announce their candidacy to host this EQT. Candidate proposals should include basic information on preliminary dates, location and lodging costs for the participants.
Conditions:
Hotel: full board package available
Rooms: both double and single rooms available
Spacious playing room, preferable within the hotel
Easily accessible location through the airport, if needed via train or shuttle
Country borders should be open for all European countries
EDC requirements regarding COVID-19 fully met
The organizer gets a contribution of 20% of the total subscription fees in order to cover the full travel costs and lodge the main referee, appointed by the EDC, in a single room with full board
Participants:
No limit to the number of participants per country
Subscription fee: 100 €
Travel expenses at own costs
Hotel lodging at own costs
Prizes
Open category: 13 players qualify for the World Championship 2021 (with a maximum of 2 players per country – as has been described in FMJD Annex 17)
Women category: 6 players qualify for the World Championship Women 2021 (with a maximum of 2 players per country – as has been described in FMJD Annex 17)
Price money is made up of 60% of the total subscription fees and will be awarded to players that qualify to the WC
Organization place
The organizer is awarded the right to select 1 player of their own federation to participate in the open category of the World Championship 2021. Bear in mind that this organization place is a part of the previously stated maximum of 2 players per country – as has been described in FMJD Annex 17.
